The emergency department of our hospital has become a Centre capable of handling all types of medical and surgical emergencies. Today the department is handling anywhere between 1500-2000 patients per month. About 50 percent of our daily admissions come from this department. There are many features unique Emergency Department which put us far ahead of other private hospitals, which include Resident Emergency Medicine Specialists, Ambulance, and having our various board certified specialist doctors available to attend to ER patients if and when the need arises. We currently have 10 doctors who cover the various shifts of this department.
- Patients that arrive at our ER, are seen on a triage basis. This means that those with more severe conditions are given priority. However, the team ensures that all patients are seen in a timely manner and as quickly as possible.
- All of our specialists are available on 24 hour basis to respond to emergency cases if need be
- Emergency outpatient facilities include laboratory testing, 3D Ultrasounds, Digital X-rays, CAT scans, and 1.5 Tesla MRIs.
- We are equipped to treat all major conditions, including, cardiac arrest, Myocardial infarction, wide range of traumas, stroke and other many emergency conditions.
We have an ambulance which is equipped with the essential equipment like oxygen, ventilator, monitors, syringe pumps, and emergency drugs, available on a 24 hour basis. Paramedics certified in ACLS, BLS, 2 nurses from our ER, and ambulance attendants generally accompany the patient for each ambulance call. Every call is answered within minutes of it being received. Apart from servicing the Georgetown area, we also provide for East Coast Demerara patients going as far as Berbice, East Bank Demerara and even Linden.
